The Misleading Style

The man of the family, DH @ MM likes to wear his old polo shirt, shorts and Japanese slippers on his non working days - to the kopitiam for breakfast, to his friend's house for mahjong and even to the mall for shopping. One style suits all~

We went shopping to get the kids each a pair of new shoes for Chinese New Year recently. All of us had THAT style - 'shirt + shorts + slippers' on the other day (our usual attire). Upon trying out the shoes, MM called out a sales girl and said,
MM says....
**literally means "Please pass me a pair of socks", and put them onto Avery's feet.

I was at the other side, browsing my own shoes when I overheard several staffs whispering to each other, "Dia mahu beli (stoking), ke tak?" (Does he want to buy the socks?).

Eventually we bought the socks and shoes; we know the rules - we must pay for any opened item :p
Do you noticed lil Chi's shoes' size is catching up with his sister?
I blamed MM for not telling the sales girl upfront regarding the socks, or perhaps the way we dressed was too dowdy, plain and misleading, haha!

    1. but i thought we are not allowed to try on socks or stockings?? or once we tried, it's considered sold and no refund allowed.. unspoken rules lah, just like underwear for hygienic reasons..

    2. That's why la, MM didn't convey his message properly, how to expect others to understand what he had in his mind.

We cannot try the socks, of course! It would be unhygienic. Just that MM didn't say he wanted to buy the sock at the first place (although he intended to buy them).

  14. why your husband also needs to try socks? thought that's quite standard :) can get skechers in taiping?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Actually my hubb asked for the socks to try it on with the shoes on my daughter, to see whether it fits. He planned to get her new socks too, but he didn't inform the sales girl that he wanted it.

We can't get skechers in Taiping, not as I know. So we usually get our shoes in Ipoh or KL or Penang :)

    1. I never came across such service, but the shoes outlets ought to provide some socks in case the customer wants to try the shoes with sock.

Come to think of it, the used socks are quite geli one :p

    1. Hehe, agree. It's all about presentation and outlook.

      Delete
    2. I don't.

If any staff will treat me nicely despite what I wear, that's what I call good service.

I wear slippers and old t-shirt even checking in to 5 stars hotel. Sometimes, it's not so much about how we dressed, but how we act.

Anyway, luxury shops staff are trained to notice little things. A customer may come in shabbily dressed but wearing a RM40,000 watch.

    3. But I wear proper attire to work to reflect my working environment. So many people doesn't seem to understand what is office wear and what is casual wear. :(
