Winking Incident

My son woke up feeling a tad feverish and complained of sore eyes. I took a quick glance, saw no red eyes and assumed that was the effect of the fever.

A day later, the swelling on little Chi's left eye grew and he kept winking his poor eyes. It didn't look like any sty from my observation but to my horror, the "swelling" turned out to be a FLEA!

Eventually I sought help from the doctor to extract the flea out. My son refused to let anyone touches his eye and we had to bind him during the extraction in the clinic.

Sigh, I have no idea where the flea came from. Certainly not from our house because we do not own a dog. Pet owners should do their part to make sure their pets are well taken of; not just feed them, but groom them, too.

My cousin had same experience but his baby cockroach could not u-turn or reverse out so it kept digging inside deeply. His grandma poured vinegar until cockroach mabuk! She used chopstick to attack the insect until it died & torn into pieces inside his ear!! Muahahahaha!

  7. now that reminds me about my own experience.. a huge cockroach (dunno how the heck) crawled into my ear and then got stuck inside.. trying to escaped but couldn't, it freaked up and started to crawl in and out inside my ears!! so painful and irritating!! finally resorted to drop a few drops of minyak angin to kill it inside, then slowly use the ear pick to squash it inside then can only pick it out pieces by pieces..

  13. Fleas and ticks fly everywhere like aeroplanes! The passing cows also send insects flying into houses as well. We need to spray our homes with the dettol spray and insecticide sometimes although killing should be avoided. (Just say sorry lah & ask Amitabha ferry them away)

  15. Oh..what a horror.. perhaps or maybe he got it from the nursery? Now I remember, my girl also had fleas all hidden in her hair when she was around 4 or so... I suspect she got it from the nursery she went to... anyway, nowadays with those flea shampoos, it is no more a problem.

  22. oh my gawd. Poor little chi! The flea actually stayed in his eye? It must have hurt him :( I can imagine how traumatized it was for him. So the fever was due to that also? Hope he is better now. I bet you turned his bedroom inside out to find if there are any more eh?

  25. Hi Yvonne, Holy Smoke! Thats the first time I read about 'a flea' where the eyes are. Maybe he got it in school.
Glad you got him to the doctor to get it off. Ya, kids tend to get some real funny problems.
I remember when I was young like your son, according to my mom I gave her a big fright, as my shorts on the back had a lot of blood.
She thought I had fallen down or got shot! It was a leech bite!
Oh well, thats what kids are for, once awhile make mummies panic, ha ha ha.
    Have a nice day.
    Lee.
